Our Services
Because of the wide array of issues that can come up with respect to large yacht ownership, it is easier to say what we don't do for our clients directly. We handle all legal matters related to large yacht ownership, but we do not litigate or give Federal tax advice. Also, we cannot give legal advice specific to any state other than Florida.
The bulk of our practice involves:
Offshore Closings
When appropriate, we will organize and document offshore closings, whether on the high seas, or on foreign soil.
Crew Employment
We regularly assist our clients with all crew employment related issues, from connecting the owners up with the right crew placement agency, to drafting employment agreements and policies.
Foreign Flagging
For many yachts, depending upon a number of factors, flagging the yacht may be more advantageous under one registry than another.
Yacht Purchasing or Sales
We assist with the entire transaction, from offer to purchase, to the closing and issuance of the certificate of registry or documentation. We provide advice regarding Florida sales and use tax prior to recommending the structure of the transaction.
Yacht Chartering
Particularly for the larger yachts, many of our clients wish to actively market their yachts on the charter market, and often, those client that are not currently marketing their yachts for charter are interested in learning what is legally required to keep this option open for the future.
New Yacht Construction
We can assist from the first time the thought enters your mind, through construction, delivery, ownership, and eventual sale. We can connect you with project managers, naval architects, and other professionals that can be of assistance.
